Six Nations Rugby

By Jennifer Coles    Date released:  4th March 2014
It's every publican's dream- three gripping international rugby matches held consecutively on the same day!

The final of the RBS Six Nations Championship will be held on Saturday March 15, and Britons are expected to head to the pub en masse.

This could mean great things for the pub trade- according to MasterCard, the RBS Six Nations boosted the economy by over 88 million pounds in 2010. As the economy is a little healthier this year, we could see an even greater impact.

Three is the magic number

The three matches are being held at the following times:

England v. Italy

Wales v. Scotland

France v. Ireland

This is absolutely perfect if you're planning to serve food, as you can hook your punters at both lunchtime and dinnertime! For more tips on catering during a match, have a read of our first Six Nations blog, here.

Business opportunity

If you're based in England or Wales, the chances of your team winning the championship are good: England is currently in second position, and Wales third on the league table.

Scotland is currently fifth, but depending on the result of their match against France this weekend, they could move higher.

Whatever the outcome, you're sure of some good matches, and there's a good chance you'll be catering for merry, celebrating fans, so make sure you're fully stocked up on wholesale drink. We've currently got a great offer on Guinness kegs- save over 10% and receive a case of Burts Guinness crisps free!

We've got further discounts available across 20 great beers including Stella Artois, Fosters and Grolsch, and spirits such as Sourz, Sambuca and Tequila. Make sure you take a look and see you your profit margins could benefit.

However you choose to host the Six Nations Final, we hope you enjoy the camaraderie and coming together of both sets of supporters, which is sure to make for an entertaining day, and night!
