Catering Tips for Halloween

Date released:  18th October 2013

When it's pitch black at 7pm, and there's frost on the car in the morning, we all need some fun to lift our spirits.

Halloween is the perfect winter diversion, whether we're heading to a nerve-jangling film at the cinema, giggling at our favourite show's 'Halloween Special', or answering the door to pint size vampires calling 'Trick or Treat'.

So if you work in catering, you could bring the fun to your business. If you want to push the boat out, fill your venue with bats, cobwebs, pumpkins and cute skeletons. Throw a Halloween themed party, and offer deals on food and drink, so customers stay all evening.

Music is important, so perhaps hire a band or karaoke machine, and fill the pub with the strains of 'Thriller' and 'The Monster Mash', or create a soundtrack filled with more subtle references, such as Nina Simone's 'Put a Spell on You', Peggy Lee's 'Witchcraft', or Vampire Weekend.

Our Halloween deals can help you make some great savings on your catering supplies, from reduced price kegs on Carlsberg, Carling and Strongbow, to offers on fittingly titled ales such as Hobgoblin and Green Goblin. Have a look at what's on offer here.

When it comes to food, perhaps you can add a spooky twist to existing dishes. Websites such as BBC Good Food contain lots of Halloween ideas. And don't forget that pumpkins aren't just for carving. They're also great as a spiced soup, in a vegetable lasagne, or even in an American style pumpkin pie! You can order our Farm Fresh pumpkins here.

If you're catering for a more discerning crowd, add a tastefully designed 'Halloween Cocktail' card to your menu, We've got some brilliant Halloween cocktail recipes, including Brain Damage, Witchcraft and Love at First Bite, on the Booker website. Just click on the 'Autumn Season' tab on the home page and click on the pumpkin picture.
